Collaboration leads to innovation in healthcare

The healthcare landscape in the United States is ever-changing. Decreased reimbursement rates paired with evolving patient needs creates urgency for hospitals to continuously uncover new ways to improve patient outcomes with flat budgets year after year. To accomplish their financial goals while providing the best care possible, hospitals and healthcare manufacturers must work together to create product solutions that meet patient care expectations in cost-effective ways.

How does collaboration lead to innovation?

Modern healthcare providers and manufacturers should bear the Triple Aim in mind while identifying the best ways to meet patient needs: ideally, the Triple Aim is the intersection of cost, quality, and patient outcomes. When healthcare providers keep Triple Aim and hospital patient care needs top-of-mind during the product design process, innovation happens. Here’s one example:

The Evolution™ Patient Apparel Behavioral Health Patient Pajamas is one of Encompass Group’s newest products offered. The Evolution™ Pajamas were created in direct response to Encompass Group’s acute care customers from across the industry expressing a need for products that are designed specifically to accommodate the unique needs of their growing behavioral health management patient population.

Here at Encompass Group, we know that patient comfort is important but we also understand that patient safety is crucial, especially for those patients who are at-risk for self-harm.

From the provider perspective, the Evolution™ pajamas achieve a higher level of safety when compared to traditional hospital apparel thanks to the design; disposable apparel that has no bindings, no drawstring, no pocket in the pants and a distinct design that makes it easy for providers to identify behavioral health patients.

From the patient perspective, the Evolution™ pajamas provide superior comfort through soft materials, a lightweight elastic waistband to securely hold pants in proper position and a calming green-colored pajama that maintains patient dignity.

In 2017, The Evolution™ Behavioral Health Patient Pajamas received an Innovative Technology designation from Vizient, which recognizes innovation that has enhanced or changed care delivery models. Vizent™ Inc. represents a diverse membership base that includes academic medical centers, pediatric facilities, community hospitals, integrated health delivery networks and non-acute healthcare providers.

The award-winning design was achievable because Encompass Group had hospital partners who expressed a need, and worked with them to fill it. As a healthcare manufacturer, Encompass Group relies on our partner organizations to share their needs so that we can offer patient-focused products that are useful in increasing patient safety and comfort in a cost-effective way.

Encompass Group will be attending the 2018 FAH Public Policy Conference and Business Exposition

The Federation of American Hospitals (FAH) is the national representative organization of more than 1,000 investor-owned or managed community hospitals and health systems throughout the United States, including members in urban and rural America, as well as inpatient rehabilitation, psychiatric, long-term acute care, and cancer hospitals. Encompass Group will be attending the 2018 FAH Public Policy Conference and Business Exposition in Washington, D.C. March 4-6, 2018.

At the event, Encompass representatives will participate in educational sessions addressing current issues and trends in today's healthcare industry, including sessions featuring leaders of Congress and the Administration, to proactively learn more about what the issues are that providers are facing and to help determine what public policy and regulatory issues in healthcare today can be addressed through Encompass product innovation.

Our attendance at this event is to not only gather industry information, but also to participate in a great forum for our team to connect directly with hospital and government representatives and assess industry needs.

We are always looking for ways to collaborate with industry providers to create product offerings that make a difference in the lives of patients and patient families. If you’ll be attending the conference, meet with me to discuss which innovative products would be helpful for you to adopt in your behavioral health unit.

Unable to attend the conference? Call 1-800-245-4636 or email me today to discuss the many ways we can help you improve patient safety and comfort.
